Gratitude to the Taipei Times
For speaking truth when silence was easier.
My sincere gratitude to the Taipei Times for being the one publication in Taiwan willing to report on my case — not once, but twice. In an environment where speaking up can be uncomfortable, your decision to cover an issue involving judicial contradiction and human rights carries real significance.
No legal system should justify destroying a person’s life for more than four years over the sharing of a rental contract — particularly in circumstances of fear, duress, and necessity. Your reporting did more than inform the public; it gave truth a place to breathe when it was being suffocated. Thank you for your journalistic integrity.

A Pause with Purpose
Our in-person English programs are temporarily on hold — not for lack of passion, but because of an ongoing legal and human rights battle that has upended my life and work in Taiwan. The case is now recognized by Global Affairs Canada and other international bodies as a clear example of arbitrary punishment and judicial contradiction — a tragedy that contradicts the values of the Taiwan I know and love.
I believe this injustice will be corrected, and when it is, I will return to rebuild what was lost with renewed faith in fairness and humanity. It was November 2024 I fled to escape six months in prison and being marked a criminal for five years — for doing nothing wrong whatsoever, but wrongfully believing Taiwan would be my wonderful home forever.
