兒童英文中級：課後小結範例
讀更長的故事，讀得更慢
故事閱讀、長母音和真正的對話，適合7到10歲的孩子。
這個年紀的孩子已經能讀完一整個故事，但閱讀對他們來說仍然很費力。他們需要清楚地聽到每個音、放慢速度、帶著感情大聲朗讀，還要說說自己讀到了什麼。所以每一堂課都圍繞著一個故事來設計；下課後，家長會收到一份以英文和母語對照寫成的課後小結，還有一份專為孩子打造的練習頁。
以下是一個完整的範例，主角是一個八歲的孩子。這一頁的所有功能都能實際操作：點 🔊 按鈕、聽故事、拼單字、拖動滑桿，還可以做小測驗。
來認識 Lucas 王柏宇，8歲，住在高雄。他已經能自己讀短短的書，最愛跑車，讀每個句子都像在賽車一樣衝過去。他每週三晚上6點30分（台灣時間）在 Zoom 上跟我上45分鐘的課。（柏宇是虛構的人物，但他上的是一堂很典型的課。）
1課後小結：柏宇的爸媽會收到什麼
下課後幾分鐘，柏宇的爸媽就會收到這封電子郵件：我們讀了什麼、柏宇哪裡表現得很好、附發音的新單字，以及這週要練習的三件小事。

Today's story was about a snail who is always last, which was funny for a boy who is always first! Lucas read four pages aloud, and by the end he was reading more slowly and much more clearly. Here is what we did.今天的故事講的是一隻總是最後一名的蝸牛，對一個凡事都要搶第一的男孩來說特別有趣！柏宇大聲朗讀了四頁，到最後他讀得比較慢，也清楚多了。以下是今天的上課內容。

- 🐌Read Snail and the Slow, Slow Trail together. Lucas read the parts of the Rabbit and the Beaver in different voices.一起讀了《Snail and the Slow, Slow Trail》。柏宇用不同的聲音扮演兔子和河狸。
- 🔤Found the long A sound in the -ail family: snail, mail, tail, sail, pail, nail, trail.找出 -ail 字族裡的長母音 A：snail、mail、tail、sail、pail、nail、trail。
- 🆚Heard the difference between short a and long a: pan / pain, man / main.分辨短母音 a 和長母音 a：pan / pain、man / main。
- 🏁Compared the animals: fast, faster, the fastest; slow, slower, the slowest.比較動物：fast、faster、the fastest；slow、slower、the slowest。
- 💬Talked about the story: How did Snail feel? Why? Lucas answered in full sentences with because.討論故事：蝸牛有什麼感覺？為什麼？柏宇用 because 說出完整的句子。

⭐ When I asked "Is slow bad?", Lucas thought for a moment and said, "No. Snail is slow, so she sees the mail." That is a real reader's answer.⭐ 我問「慢是不好的嗎？」柏宇想了一下說：「不是。蝸牛很慢，所以她看到了信。」這是真正會閱讀的孩子才說得出的答案。

- On Lucas's practice page, build all seven -ail words and say each one long and slow.在柏宇的練習頁拼出七個 -ail 單字，每個都拉長、慢慢地唸。
- At dinner, tell the family who is the fastest and who is the slowest at home.吃晚餐時，告訴家人家裡誰是 the fastest，誰是 the slowest。

2故事時間：一邊聽，一邊讀
在這個程度，故事就是課程本身。孩子聽故事、讀故事、演故事，也一起討論故事。我寫的每一個故事都在練習一個學習者覺得困難的音。Snail and the Slow, Slow Trail（蝸牛與慢慢的小路）練習的是長母音 A，也帶著一個許多又快又聰明的孩子都需要聽到的訊息：放慢腳步，才會注意到身邊的事物。

01Build a word: the -ail family · 拼字遊戲
Tap the start of a word. Then say it long and slow, like a snail: aaail. · 點一個字首，再像蝸牛一樣拉長、慢慢地唸：aaail。
02Short a or long a? · 短 a 還是長 a？
Add an i and the a says its name! Tap and listen. · 加上 i，a 就唸它自己的名字！點一下聽聽看。
03Fast, faster, the fastest · 比一比
Tap each animal and say the sentence. · 點每隻動物，說出句子。
04How did Snail feel? · 蝸牛有什麼感覺？
Move through the story. Say how Snail feels, and say why with because. · 跟著故事走，說出蝸牛的感覺，再用 because 說出原因。
- Snail feels sad because she is always last.蝸牛很難過，因為她總是最後一名。
- Snail feels lonely because she is alone in the rain.蝸牛很孤單，因為她獨自在雨中。
- Snail feels surprised because she finds the lost mail.蝸牛很驚訝，因為她找到了遺失的信。
- Snail feels proud because she saved the letter.蝸牛很自豪，因為她救回了那封信。
- Snail feels happy because nobody tells her to hurry.蝸牛很開心，因為再也沒有人催她快一點。

真正的練習頁每週都會增加內容：更多單字、更多故事、更多遊戲，還有一個連回孩子課程行事曆的連結。
5給家長的話
- 問「為什麼？」，然後等一等。開口幫忙之前，先在心裡數到五。英文就是在思考的時間裡長出來的。
- 慢不是問題。讀得太快的孩子常會漏掉單字的結尾。帶著感情、慢慢地讀，正是要學的本事。
- 讓孩子當老師。請孩子把故事講給您聽。能把順序說對，就是很好的練習。
- 讀兩遍。讀第二遍時，孩子才開始享受這些文字，而不只是在一個字一個字地解碼。
