The Landlord Scam: My Struggle for Justice in Taiwan

First Request for Leniency (Historical Letter)
Context: The letter below is a historical document written during the proceedings, when I was still in Taiwan and seeking to resolve the matter and prevent further escalation. I’m including it for transparency and to document my understanding and circumstances at the time: apologetic for the mistake, focused on safety concerns, and seeking proportional resolution.
Your Honor,
I regret that I must compose this letter. The fact that we are still entangled in a legal dispute over the publication of my rental contract—an incident that occurred years ago and that I promptly corrected—has been deeply concerning. I regret that this matter has consumed judicial time and resources, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused.
In response to the situation, I provided extensive evidence, including video recordings and witness testimony, to explain the surrounding context. My primary objective throughout was to protect myself, my business interests, and my reputation during a period when I believed I faced legitimate safety concerns at the property. When I moved in, I believed basic security and safety measures referenced in the agreement were not being addressed. My attempts to resolve these matters escalated rather than de-escalated, and I experienced ongoing safety concerns and uncertainty.
Regarding my online activity: I maintain an online presence related to my work. During a period of significant concern regarding my safety, I briefly published the rental agreement for documentation and advice. I acknowledge that the contract contained sensitive information that should not have been shared. I did not understand the legal restriction at the time, and I had no intent to harm anyone or disrespect Taiwan’s law. When I learned a complaint had been made, I apologized and removed the material promptly.
I emphasize that I have never had prior legal trouble and consider myself a law-abiding person who respects Taiwan and its people. Since arriving in 2009, my intention was to contribute positively and build a life and business in Taiwan. This matter has had serious personal and professional consequences and has undermined what I built over many years.
In light of the circumstances, I respectfully ask the court for understanding regarding my intent and my situation at the time. I deny any intention to cause harm or distress to the landlord or any other party. The prolonged proceedings and penalties have had significant personal and professional consequences.
If my demeanor ever appeared overly intense or argumentative, I regret that impression. My intent was not hostility, but urgency arising from perceived safety concerns during a high-pressure situation. I hope this letter conveys the sincerity of my regret and my request for a proportional and humane resolution.
Respectfully,
Ross Cline 柯受恩

Personal note (present day): I continue to seek a fair and lawful pathway to return to Taiwan. My goal is not escalation. My goal is rectification, proportionality, and a fair pathway to return home. I welcome independent review of the record and the documentary materials linked on this page.
Video Evidence
I later learned additional information about the origin of a threatening call I received, including references to it within a police report and statements made during mediation. I am publishing these materials so that independent reviewers can evaluate whether the circumstances reasonably supported concerns regarding safety and duress, and whether the overall outcome has remained proportionate to the conduct involved.
