Story Time with Ross
Four stories for young English learners, read aloud by me
I write stories for my young students. Each one is built around one sound or one idea that real learners find hard, and each one has a gentle, kind old Beaver in it somewhere. Now you can hear me read them. Play them at bedtime, in the car, or before a lesson. Listen first, then read along on the story page.

A hardworking Beaver, a charming Fox in starry robes, and a forest that slowly grows quieter. A gentle two-part story about false friends, starting over, and the truth that home is wherever kindness is built.
✏️ Big questions to talk about in English: is he really a friend? How can you tell?

Episode 8 · For parents and teachers · 13 min 57 s
The Quiet Genius of Mister Rogers
My love letter to Fred Rogers, the teacher who shaped how I speak to children: the careful thinking behind his gentle words, and what any parent can carry into their own living room.
✏️ Natural spoken English at a calm pace: lovely listening practice for adults, too.
Why stories?
Children don't learn English from worksheets. They learn it from stories they want to hear again, from silly voices, and from hearing the same sounds over and over until the sounds belong to them. A story read aloud does all of that, and it's the most gentle way I know to teach the ends of words, the long and short vowels, and how to talk about feelings and big ideas.
In my lessons, the story is the lesson. After class, the family gets a recap in English and their own language, plus a practice page made for their child. See it for yourself: ages 4–7 · ages 7–10 · ages 9–12.
